The workforce housing
affordability act
Measure C
Measure C makes it easier for teachers, healthcare workers, service workers and other essential workers to afford housing nearby, closer to work that supports our community.
We did it – thanks to you! Voters in the City of Santa Cruz responded to our ongoing housing crisis by passing Measure C with a very solid 53.04% majority, as of today. As the final ballots are tallied, we may see an even greater margin!
Over the next 20 years, Measure C will provide nearly $100 million in locally controlled funding to make housing more affordable for essential lower-income workers; preserve housing for seniors, people with disabilities and others on fixed income; help prevent evictions; and establish real alternatives to temporary homeless shelters and campgrounds.
Our message is simple: thank you, thank you, thank you to the voters and volunteers who stood up to support a real solution for our community’s #1 challenge!
About Measure C
High cost of housing is the single biggest problem in Santa Cruz. Many retired people can’t afford to stay here, our kids have to move away, and long commutes keep working people apart from their families – worsening traffic and climate air quality. It also makes homelessness harder to address.
The problem is urgent. We must act today.
Voting Yes on C would provide nearly $100 million in locally controlled funding to:
Make housing more affordable for lower-income workers, reducing commutes
Preserve housing for seniors, people with disabilities and others on fixed income
Make Housing Affordable
Help prevent evictions
Establish real alternatives to temporary homeless shelters and campgrounds
Local organizations endorse Measure C:
Say NO to dirty political tricks, vote NO on B
Measure B is a deceptive ballot measure, funded from the deep pockets of statewide real estate lobbyists, designed to protect corporate landlords. After years of profiting from rising rents, wealthy landlords are trying to exempt themselves from paying for any solutions to the lack of affordable housing in our community.
